Project 1.1R

Burrows Run was designed in 1939 by local renowned architect R. Brognard Okie for Nicholas and Genevieve du Pont and was originally known as “Ridgely”.  Known best for his Colonial Revival style, Mr. Okie relied on skilled carpenters and talented craftsman to execute his visions just as we do here at Griffiths.

Our client thought their family home had some unfortunate additions and awkward spaces so they brought in Archer & Buchanan Architects to help bring the house back to the vision of Okie. Some enhancements to modernize the flow of a few of the living spaces were made, keeping those changes sympathetic to the architecture.

Upgrades to all the major systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing and security were essential to bring the house up to today’s codes and comfort standards. The architects trademark stonework and robust millwork were restored to their original specifications. While significant foundation work was completed to keep this historic home in good repair for future generations. The original Ludowici tile roof was reset to ensure that all the work done below is safe and dry for the next 80 years.
